Al Konder Steerhead Buckle

Sterling silver hand crafted buckle by Silversmith Albert Konder who currently lives in Bali. The design is first hand-engraved. Then the engraving is enhanced (chased) with a small hammer and chisel-like tools. Next, the design is raised with the repousse technique, whereby it is pushed out from the back using a hammer and small steel rods with specially shaped heads. The finished image is cleaned up with gravers and chasing tools from the front. Finally, the original is used to create a casting which is again engraved, chased and finished by hand, paying attention to the fine detail. The result is a three-dimensional design with the meticulous detail that you see in the photo. 3 1/2"x 2 1/2" and for a 1 1/2" belt. Brand new, mint condition.
